Chuck
Perry has been involved in the analysis, financing,
development and sale of numerous mixed-use residential,
resort and commercial projects for almost thirty years.
After graduating from Duke University Law School, Chuck
practiced law for several years with a downtown Atlanta
law firm before he was hired away by a German client who
was syndicating U.S. real estate to European investors.
Chuck then became involved full time with commercial
real estate, first with a local Atlanta firm, then with
Landauer Associates, an international real estate
counseling and transaction firm headquartered in New
York and London.
In
the early to mid nineties, Chuck was the first Outback
Steakhouse franchisee in northern California and
developed the first four Outback's ever opened in that
State. After selling the stores and his interest in the
management company, Chuck returned to the east coast and
resumed his real estate career.
In
addition to the selected assignments set forth below,
Chuck has developed as principal and managing partner
some of the larger mixed-use developments in north
Atlanta. He organized the purchase and development of
Satellite Place, a 375-acre parcel of land located
across from Gwinnett Place Mall in northeast Atlanta,
Georgia. The property was purchased for $30 million
cash, voted Deal of the Year by the Atlanta Business
Chronicle and recognized as the largest commercial real
estate land transaction in the history of the State of
Georgia. The land portion sold out in two years and the
real estate has been valued at $2 billion. Another major
mixed-use development where Chuck acted as managing
development partner and exclusive marketing advisor was
400 Commons, a 200-acre project along Ga. 400 north of
Atlanta. Chuck is presently concluding the development
of Longbranch, a 60-acre development with 3,000 feet of
frontage along Ga 400, adjacent to the sensitive
Chestatee River. Chuck’s involvement in these large
developments has given him the experience and background
to know first hand the issues that are involved in the
entitlement and development process.
Additionally,
Chuck has served as the Chairman of the Forsyth County
Georgia Board of Appeals and been a member of the
Forsyth County Planning Commission. These public service
positions came at a time when Forsyth County led the
nation in population growth and provide Chuck with an
entitlement perspective from the viewpoint of the
planning staff and the Commissioners.
Chuck is
a member of the Board of Directors of the North American
Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) land trust located in Chadds Ford, Pa. The land trust holds conservation easements
across the United States and is regarded as the nation's
foremost incentive based protector of land.
